Prize in memory of Hans-Peter Simons
Three Starts, Three Wins in the Prize in memory of Hans-Peter Simons for Alix von Borries
The finale of the Young Riders in the Prize in memory of Hans-Peter Simons could hardly have gone better: Alix von Borries from the Rhineland celebrated a remarkable hat-trick with her Hanoverian mare Feingefuehl FRH, securing the coveted sash of Indoor Champion, presented by UVEX, for the second year in a row.
Even before the freestyle final, the 19-year-old remained modest: “I really enjoy riding freestyles, but we haven’t done it that often at this level yet. Let’s see how it goes.” But the evening belonged to her. To the music of James Blunt, the pair delivered a brilliant performance in the arena, rewarded with a personal best score of 77.108 percent.
“It’s just an indescribable feeling to stand at the very top here. Simply being able to compete in Aachen is a dream come true – and to achieve a hat-trick like this is simply unbelievable,” said a visibly moved Alix von Borries after her victory.
The podium remained international: Second place went to the Dutch rider Yasmin Westerink with Amphitryon OLD (74.992 %), team silver medalist at this year’s European Championships in Kronberg and former participant of the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS Programme of Excellence. Third place was claimed by her compatriot Morgan Walraven, who completed the strong Dutch result with Benecia and another personal best of 74.075 %.
