Prize of Nadine Capellmann
Eve Catherine Bartels is the radiant winner of the prize awarded by Nadine Capellmann
In the first competition for juniors, Eve Catherine Bartels and her 13-year-old stallion Villeneuve thrilled both the audience and the jury with an impressive performance.
It was a pleasure to watch young Hessian Eve Catherine Bartels and her Vitalis offspring Villeneuve. Dynamic, swinging through his body and with seemingly effortless ease, the chestnut horse bred in the Rhineland completed the required lessons in the prize given by Nadine Capellmann. “Villeneuve is a truly reliable horse. He always wants to do everything right,” said the 17-year-old, raving about the performance of her sporting partner, who already impressed as a finalist in the Nuremberg Burgpokal at a young age. An impressive 72.567 percent lit up the scoreboard at the end of their performance – a new personal best for the harmonious duo, who already won the bronze medal at the German Youth Championships in Aachen last summer. “It is every rider's dream to win in Aachen one day. For me, that dream came true today. It's an indescribable feeling,” beamed Eve Catherine Bartels immediately after the award ceremony.
The competition was fierce on Friday evening in the festively decorated Albert-Vahle-Halle – but not fierce enough to surpass the outstanding performance of Eve Catherine Bartels and her Villeneuve. Second place went to Laura Qvist from Denmark, riding her eight-year-old gelding Hafsjolds Ranger. A score of 71.414 percent also meant a new personal best for the ninth-placed pair at this year's European Championships in Le Mans, France. Completing the podium were three-time European champion Julie Sofie Schmitz-Heinen and her eight-year-old Oldenburg mare First Date OLD, who were awarded 70.859 percent by the jury.
